Lady Marauders fall to Fort Valley State, 68-55

FORT VALLEY, Georgia – Central State dropped its fifth straight game, losing 68-55 to Fort Valley State on Wednesday.

CSU falls to 2-7 overall with a 0-2 record in SIAC play. FVSU improves to 5-4 on year with a 2-0 SIAC mark.

Poor shooting plagued CSU throughout the night. CSU made just 29.5% (18-61) of its shot attempts while FVSU converted over 40% from the field (24-59). FVSU also cashed in on 21 offensive rebounds and outscored CSU, 22-0, in second chance points.

FVSU's Alicia Franklin finished with a game-high 17 points. Nola Carter added 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Led by Taziha Fanning's 13 points, the FVSU bench outscored the CSU reserves, 20-8.

Brooke Spaulding led CSU scorers with 16 points.
Takyra Gilbert finished with 12 points and three assists.

CSU will return home to play Union University on Saturday at 5:30 pm.Â
