WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Marauders cruised to a 83-58 victory over Paine College on Monday night.
 
 
With the win, CSU improves to 6-3 overall with a 3-1 mark in SIAC play. PC remains winless at 0-9 with an 0-4 record in conference play.


 
CSU opened the game up an a 11-0 run and never looked back. CSU senior guard Tom Johnson dished out eight first half assists while picking up the 400th of his collegiate career. Five of Johnson's eight assists went to the hot shooting Harris Brown, who came off the bench to score 14 in the opening half to help give the Marauders a 49-23 lead at the intermission.
 
 
CSU continued the onslaught in the second half. CSU freshman Darweshi Hunter scored 12 second half points to help extinguish any chance of a Paine comeback. 10 of the 11 CSU players who logged minutes scored two or more points as CSU cruised to the 25 point win.
 
 
Brown led CSU with a season-high 20 points, making eight of 15 shot attempts. Hunter finished with 19 points and six rebounds. Johnson finished two rebounds shy of a triple double recording 10 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds.
 
 
CSU committed a season-low seven turnovers while PC gave the ball away 24 times. CSU took advantage of PC miscues, holding a 31-4 edge in points off of turnovers. Led by Brown, the CSU bench outscored the PC reserves, 40-9.
 
 
 
The Marauders will travel to face Morehouse on Thursday.

CSU freshman Darweshi Hunter is leading the team in scoring and rebounding with 19.2 ppg and 6.8 rpg while shooting 52% from the field.
 
 
Johnson recorded 11 assists for the third time this season. Reaching 400 career assists on Monday, Johnson is also closing in on 200 career steals. He currently has 190 steals entering Thursday's game.
 
 
CSU has scored 80 or more points four times this season.
