WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Lady Marauders lost to Lewis University, 73-56, on Saturday.
 
 
The loss drops CSU to 2-4 overall while LU improves to 3-3 on the season.
 
 
Lewis jumped out to 18-5 lead after the first quarter and maintained control throughout the contest. By halftime, CSU trailed 36-18.
 
 
LU maintained the pace in the third quarter by making 60% of their field goal attempts (9-15) to extend their lead, 58-33, entering the final 10 minutes. CSU came as close as 14 points in the fourth quarter but LU maintained control and cruised to the 17-point victory.
 
 
CSU converted just 29.6% of its shot attempts (21-71) while LU made 50% from the field (27-54). LU also shot well from three-point range, going 10 of 23 from beyond the arc while CSU made just five of 20 attempts from the perimeter.
 
 
CSU was also outrebounded, 45-32, while the bench was outscored, 35-8.


LU was led by Kae Barth-Lofton's 14 points and 10 rebounds. Stephanie Hart added 12 points and eight assists. Carly Graverson and Reilly Omstead each finished with 11 points.
 
CSU was paced by Takyra Gilbert's 19 points. Brooke Spaulding finished with 12 points and Cameryn Dubose recorded nine points and 11 rebounds.
 
 
CSU will play on Wednesday against Grand Valley State at 3:30 pm.
