WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Lady Marauders lost to top-ranked California University of Pennsylvania, 68-57, on Tuesday,

The loss drops CSU to 2-3 overall while CUP remains perfect at 5-0.

Jumping up to No. 8 in the D2SIDA National Poll on Tuesday afternoon, CUP open the game on a 7-0 run. CSU battled back to narrow the gap, 16-12, at the end of the first period. CSU surrendered the first six points to open the second quarter and trailed, 42-28 at halftime.

CSU was unable to make a significant dent into the deficit in the third quarter and trailed 57-44 heading into the final 10 minutes of play. CSU found early momentum in the early on in the fourth quarter with a 10-2 rally to pull within five points with 5:49 to play but CUP held CSU scoreless through the final 5:15 of the game to seal the outcome.

CUP benefitted from a balanced scoring attack as six players had seven or more points. Bianca Jasper led the team with 15 points while Monica Burns finished with 11 points.

CSU was paced by
Brooke Spaulding's 17 points.
Sandra Guilford added 14 points.
