Lady Marauders win on the road over rival Kentucky State

FRANKFORT, Kentucky
- The Central State Marauders earned another crucial SIAC victory with a 62-53 road win over rival Kentucky State on Saturday
With the win, CSU improves to 19-5 overall with a 13-3 conference mark. KSU falls to 7-17 on the year with a 6-10 mark in the SIAC.
Playing infront of a high capacity Kentucky State crowd, the KSU bench was a key factor in the Thorobrettes early success, outscoring the CSU reserves 15-4 in the first half. CSU went into the break trailing by one, 31-30.
The Lady Marauders regained momentum and took control in the third period by outscoring KSU, 22-11, to take a 10 point lead into the fourth quarter. Both teams went scoreless for the first three minutes of the final period. CSU converted just 3 of 17 field goal attempts but went a perfect 4 for 4 from the free throw line to help seal the victory.
CSU held a 21-9 edge in points scored off of turnovers and outrebounded KSU, 41-37.
Senior guard
Sierra Harley led Central State with a game-high 18 points and 9 rebounds.
Chervelle Cox finished the afternoon with 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Jordan Campbell led KSU's efforts with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

CSU will have a week off before traveling to play Tuskegee next Saturday at 1:30 pm cst.

With Saturday's results, CSU now leads the all-time series against KSU, 40-28.

LaTonya McDole entered her first game as CSU interim head coach on Saturday. McDole was officially announced as the interim head coach in a meeting with players and staff on Friday.

Prior to Saturday, CSU had not won in Frankfort, Kentucky since the 2012-13 season.

CSU is currently No. 10 in the D2SIDA South Region Poll.
