Lady Marauders dominate in 88-57 win over Clark Atlanta
 
WILBERFORCE, Ohio – In a rematch of last year's SIAC Championship. the Central State Lady Marauders beat the Panthers of Clark Atlanta, 88-57, on Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win, CSU improves to 4-7 overall with a 2-3 mark in SIAC play. CAU fell to 1-9 overall with a 0-3 mark in the conference.
 
CSU opened the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back. By the midway point of the second quarter, CSU enjoyed its largest lead of the half, 28-12, as Chervelle Cox stole the ball and converted the fast break layup.
 
CSU went on to outscore CAU, 22-14, in the second quarter and took a 38-26 lead at intermission.
 
Sandra Guilford delivered a spark for CSU in the third period, scoring eight points off the bench as the Lady Marauders entended their lead, 58-38, heading into the final 10 minutes of play. CSU maintained momentum throughout the fourth quarter, cruising to the eventual 33-point victory.
 
CSU forced 34 CAU turnovers and held a 35-12 edge in points scored off giveaways. Led by Guilford, the CSU bench outscored the CAU reserves, 36-15.
 
Cox finished with new CSU career-high 18 points and eight steals. She also grabbed 11 rebounds on her way to her fifth double-double of the season. Falon Edwards finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Jaeda Davis tallied 12 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Guilford converted all six of her shot attempts, finishing with 12 points. Takyra Gilbert also came off the bench to contribute 11 points and six assists.
 
The Lady Marauders will travel to play Grand Valley State on Monday at 1 pm. GVSU is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation with a 8-1 overall record.
