Lady Marauders coast to 66-52 road win over Fort Valley State
 
FORT VALLEY, Georgia – The Central State Lady Marauders snapped a four-game losing streak with a 66-52 conference victory over Fort Valley State University on Monday night.
 
With the win, the Lady Marauders jump to 3-4 overall with a 1-1 ledger in SIAC play. The Wildcats drop to to 1-8 on the year with a 1-1 mark in the conference.
 
After a low scoring first quarter, the teams remained deadlocked, 9-9. CSU took momentum in the second frame. Led by reserves Kenedi London and Daesjah Ely, CSU closed the second quarter on a 10-1 run. London and Ely combined for 13 points in the second quarter as CSU took  a 29-22 lead at halftime.
 
The CSU defense held FVSU to just eight points in the third period as the lead ballooned, 47-30, entering the final ten minutes of play. CSU maintained a comfortable double-digit lead through the duration of the fourth quarter, cruising to  the 14-point victory.
 
CSU held a 26-12 edge in bench points. London led the Lady Marauders with a season-high 16 points in 22 minutes of playing time while Ely added 10 points on the night. Forward Chervelle Cox provided CSU with a tremendous presence in the paint, pulling down a career-high 19 rebounds and scored 11 points.
 
FVSU was paced by Alicia Franklin's 19 points.
 
CSU continues conference play on Thursday at Lane College.

Saturday's contest marked the fifth of eight straight road games for the Lady Marauders.
 
Led by London and Ely, CSU recorded the most bench points (26) this season.
 
CSU forward Chervelle Cox recorded her fourth double-double of the season.
