Lady Marauders unable to keep pace with Lane
 
MEMPHIS, Tennessee – A poor shooting night held the Central State Lady Marauders back in a 64-45 loss to Lane College on Thursday.
 
The loss drops the Lady Marauders to 3-5 overall with a 1-2 ledger in SIAC play. Lane improves to 3-5 on the year and 2-1 in the conference.
 
LC jumped out to a 20-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and took a 32-22 lead at halftime.
 
CSU's scoring struggles continued in the third period. The Lady Marauders made just one of their first 11 shots from the field while LC managed to increase its lead, 47-32, heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
 
CSU was unable to make any significant run to cut into the Lane lead in the final quarter as LC cruised to the eventual 19-point win.
 
CSU shooters combined to make just  24% from the field – the lowest shooting percentage performance of the season. CSU also struggled from the free throw line, converting 43.9%.
 
Hannah Porchia led Lane with 14 points, 20 rebounds and three blocked shots.
 
Jaeda Davis paced CSU with 11 points.
 
CSU continues conference play on Saturday at LeMoyne-Owen.


 
 
Notes
 
 
Thursday's contest marked the sixth of eight straight road games for the Lady Marauders.
 
CSU is currently in fourth place in the SIAC.
