Marauders eclipse century mark in 107-84 win over Ohio-Eastern

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Marauders earned their first win of the season with a 107-84 victory over Ohio University-Eastern on Sunday.
With Sunday's win, CSU is now 1-3 overall heading into Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this weekend. OU-Eastern suffered its first loss of the season and now sits at 4-1.
The teams played to an 11-11 tie early on before CSU went on a 14-3 run to take a 25-14 lead with 11:36 left in the first half. Sparked by the perimeter shooting from
Dwight Richards, Jr. and
Dorian Crutcher, CSU closed the half on a 18-4 run to take a 55-34 lead into the break.
The Marauders gradually built their lead in the second half, leading by as many as 29. 10 CSU players scored at two or more points on the night as the team cruised to the 23-point victory.
CSU dominated in the paint, outscoring OU-Eastern, 62-26. The Marauders forced 21 turnovers and held a 28-6 edge in points score off giveaways.
Richards, Jr. finished with a season-high 31 points, converting 11 of 17 shot attempts. Crutcher scored 17 points.
Malik Fisher led the CSU reserves with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Tom Johnson distributed a career-high 14 assists to go along with 11 points and eight rebounds.
OU-Eastern was led by a 27-point performance from Nygel Jones. Jarius Farrow added 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
CSU will open SIAC play on the road this Saturday against Albany State University.

CSU's 107 points is the most the Marauders have scored since Jan. 21 of 2017 when they defeated Kentucky State, 118-80.CBU holds a 5-2 edge in the all-time series which dates back to 2001.
