Clark leads Lady Marauders to 3-1 win over UC-Clermont
BATAVIA, Ohio - The Central Sate University Lady Marauders earned their seventh victory of the season with a 3-1 road win over the UC-Clermont Cougars on Wednesday night.
CSU jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the opening set and hung on to win, 25-22.
Leading 21-16 in the second set, CSU allowed six straight points. UCC went on to even up the match, 1-1, with a 25-23 victory.Â
Up 21-20 in the third, CSU benefited from UCC miscues as three of CSU's final four points came on Cougar attacking errors.
CSU built a 15-8 lead in the fourth set. UCC battled back to even up the score, 23-23. CSU regained its composure as
Deja Clark recorded a kill to give CSU a 24-23 lead. Shaynn Washington sealed the victory, blocking a Haley Fannin spike.
Clark, a junior from Pickerington, Ohio, finished with a season-high 22 kills along with 16 digs and two blocks.
Desiree Howard recorded 13 kills, one block and 11 digs. Washington led the team with seven blocks.
CSU will travel to play Notre Dame College next Tuesday.
