JACKSON, Tennessee – The Central State Marauders lost to Lane College, 85-67, in a crucial SIAC contest on Monday night.
 
 
The loss drops CSU to 7-14 on the year with a 6-8 ledger in the SIAC. LC improves to 9-10 overall with a 7-7 mark in conference play.
 
 
CSU jumped out to an eight point lead midway through the first half. The CSU lead was quickly erased with a 20-4 run by the Dragons capped off by a Josh Smith-Levi basket to give LC a 24-16 lead at the 8:14 mark. CSU closed the gap later in the half thanks to a 7-0 run and trailed by just one, 35-34, at the break.
 
 
Back-to-back baskets by Davone Daniels helped give CSU a 39-37 lead in the early stages of the second half but Lane responded with a 12-0 run to take a 49-39 lead at the 16:21 mark. The Marauders battled back, trailing 55-51 after a Frank Barber III make from beyond the arc. CSU was unable to get any closer as the Dragons scored on their next five offensive possessions to increase the lead, 66-54, with 7:36 to play. The Dragons went on to close the game with a 15-2 run to seal the victory.
 
 
LC outrebounded CSU, 36-21, and held a significant advantage in second chance points, 18-5.
 
 
Kendarius Ash led the way for Lane with a game-high 24 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 steals and 3 blocks. Terrace Holt scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
 
 
CSU was paced by reserves Davone Daniels and Charles Ruise. Daniels finished with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Ruise recorded 15 points and 3 rebounds.
 
 
The Marauders return home to face non-conference rival Wilberforce University on Saturday at 1 pm.

CSU falls into second place behind LC in the SIAC West Division standings.

CSU and LC have split the regular season series (1-1).

CSU leading score Chris Scott was held to just 6 points on Monday night.
