Box Score Marauders fall on the road to Lane, 85-74
JACKSON, Tennessee - The Central State Marauders lost to Lane College, 85-74, in SIAC play on Wednesday night.
CSU dictated the pace of play early on as
Robert Konteh hit his first two shots and
Dwight Richards, Jr. drained a three-pointer to give the Marauders 7-2 lead. The early deficit woke up SIAC Pre-season Player of the Year Terrance Bridgeman, who hit a three-pointer on Lane's next possession to spark a 20-5 run. The Dragons lead ballooned to as many as thirteen in the first half.
Jeremy Brown converted from beyond the arc just before the end of the first half to bring CSU within ten, 40-30, at intermission.
LC opened the second half with a 10-0 run sparked by back-to-back three point makes from Bridgeman to go up, 50-30. CSU methodically chopped away at the deficit to pull within six after
Markese McGuire converted a three-point play with 10:16 to play. LC once again looked to Bridgeman, who scored 11 his teams' next 13 points. Up by nine with 3:23 remaining, Lane was perfect from the field (2-2) and the free throw line (5-5) to seal the nine point victory.
Lane held a decisive advantage in points scored in the paint, 34-18. While CSU shot an efficient 54% from the field, LC shooters were even better converting 65% of their shot attempts on the night.
Bridgeman made 15 of 23 shot attempts for a game-high 39 points as the Dragons improved to 14-8 on the season and 11-2 in SIAC play.
McGuire led all Marauders with 17 points and 4 steals. The loss drops CSU to an overall record of 8-16 with a 5-9 mark in conference play.
