Box Score Marauders struggle in lopsided loss to Spring Hill
MOBILE, Alabama – The Central State Marauders struggled for the majority of the night in Saturday's 78-54 road loss to the Badger of Spring Hill College.
After a
Robert Konteh tip-in, CSU held a slim 15-14 lead at the 12:16 mark of the first half. From that point on, Spring Hill seized control and the Marauders never recovered. SHC scored the next 13 points of the game and never looked back. CSU cut the deficit down to 11 with a minute to go before halftime but back-to-back three point increased Spring Hill's lead, 44-27, at intermission.
SHC's lead ballooned to 22 when Walter Massey converted a bucket on the fast break midway through the second half. The Badgers maintained a 20-point cushion for the remainder of the game and cruised to the eventual 24-point victory.
The Badgers converted 56% of their field goal attempts compared to the Marauders' 34% performance. SHC also made 50% of their shots from beyond the arc. CSU was a dismal 18% from three-point range.
All but one player scored for Spring Hill. Massey led the team with 18 points and 5 rebounds. With the win, Spring Hill improves to 6-17 on the season with a 5-7 mark in SIAC play.
Dwight Richards, Jr. paced Central State with 13 points.
Jeremy Brown finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds. The setback drops the Marauders to 7-15 overall and 4-8 in conference play.
