Lady Marauders win fourth straight with 87-54 victory over Fort Valley State
WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Marauders won their fourth straight game with a lopsided 87-54 win over Fort Valley State on Monday.
With the win, the Marauders improve to 5-2 overall with a 2-0 mark in SIAC play. The Wildcats remain winless with a 0-8 mark and 0-2 ledger in the conference.
The Lady Marauders never trailed in the game, taking a 24-18 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Marauders turned up their defensive intensity in the second quarter to outscore FVSU, 10-0, on points off of turnovers and took a 48-27 lead at intermission.
CSU kept their momentum in the third frame by outscoring FVSU, 22-9. Up 70-36, CSU cruised in the fourth quarter en route to the win.
CSU was led by the play of its guards as the perimeter players accounted for 70 of the team's 87 points.
Sierra Harley led all scorers with 18 points.
Jaeda Davis and
Brooke Spaulding each poured in 17 points.
Takyra Gilbert chipped in with 10.
CSU recorded 16 steals and forced FVSU into 27 turnovers.
The Lady Marauders will try to stay undefeated in conference play when they host Lane on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
