Box Score Central State comes up short in loss to Clark Atlanta

ATLANTA, Georgia - The Central State Marauders committed 20 turnovers and went on to drop their fifth game in a row with Thursday night's 88-75 road loss to Clark Atlanta University.

The night started off well for the Marauders as they scored the first 6 points of the contest and had a healthy 23-10 lead at the 11:11 mark of the first half. CAU responded with a 15-3 run sparked by five straight points from Micquel Roseman. The Marauders converted a free throw at the other end to go up 27-25 but the Panther mounted a 8-0 run with Roseman adding another 4 points. CAU poured in two late- three-pointers to take a 41-33 lead at half.

Due to numerous miscues and turnovers, the Marauders were unable to make a significant run in the second half. The closest CSU would come would be 59-49 at the 10:38 mark but Clark Atlanta regained full control with an 11-3 run to go up, 73-54 and cruise to the victory.

Clark Atlanta outscored the Marauders on the fast break, 28-6, points in the paint, 26-20, bench scoring, 47-38 and points off of turnovers, 21-19. CAU also converted 17 of 20 free throw attempts compared to a 11-17 performance from the Marauders.

Roseman led the Panthers with 17 points. Derek Harper finished with 16 points. Lawrence Triplett had 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Panthers improved to 9-5 overall with a 3-1 record in the SIAC.

The Marauders were paced by a game-high 28 points from Dwight Richards, Jr., who made 9 of 14 field goal attempts. With the latest loss, Central State currently stands at 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

The Marauders hope to bounce back this Saturday when they travel to play Morehouse College at 3 pm.
