Box Score Cedarville tops Central State, 98-72
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Cedarville University's balanced offense propelled the Yellow Jackets to a 98-72 win over the Central State Marauders on Tuesday night.
The Yellow Jackets opened the game on a 14-2 run and never looked back. Patrick Bain sparked the Cedarville offensive onslaught with 14 first half points as the CU took a 49-31 lead at halftime.
The CU lead ballooned to 28 when a Robert Okoro Dunk gave the Yellow Jackets a 66-38 lead with 15:50 left in the game. The Marauders were unable to generate any momentum trailing by 20 or more points for the remainder of the game. With no doubt in the outcome, both teams emptied their benches as Cedarville went on to celebrate the 26-point win.
Cedarville had a tremendous shooting night from the field, converting 66.1% from the field compared to a 43% performance from the Marauders. CU also had success in the key, outscoring CSU in the paint, 46-32.
Bain led the Cedarville offense with 20 points. J.C. Faubion finished with 19 points and 7 rebounds as CU improved to 8-11 on the year.
Despite the loss, CSU's
Dwight Richards, Jr. scored a game-high 31 points. He became the first Marauder to score 30 or more points in back-to-back games in over 5 years.
The defeat drops CSU to 7-13 overall.
The Marauders will return to conference play on Feb. 2 when they host Lane College.
