Poor shooting dooms Marauders in loss to LeMoyne-Owen

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Central State took 26 more shots in Saturday's SIAC contest against LeMoyne-Owen but a 29% shooting performance cost CSU in a 66-59 loss to the Magicians.

Justin Street gave the Magicians a spark early on with 9 first half points. A Street three ball put the Magicians up, 23-15, with 6:06 left in the first half and LOC took a 26-20 lead into the locker room.

CSU managed to cut into the LOC lead in the early stages of the second half. A Sean Cassidy, Jr. three-pointer brought CSU to within one, 31-30, with 14:16 left to play. LOC answered with a 15-2 run capped off by a Aric Bady three ball to go up 45-33. The Magicians maintained a double-figure lead entering the final minute of play and cruised to the 7-point win.

Street finished with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Larry McGaughey scored 16 points and Bady finished with 15 points as LeMoyne-Owen improved to 13-14 overall and 10-8 in SIAC play.

CSU guard Sterling Gilmore scored a game-high 20 points. No other Marauder scored in double figures as CSU fell to 10-14 on the year and 8-9 in the conference.

Central State concludes the regular season on Monday in Jackson, TN against Lane College.
