Box Score CSU handles Davis & Elkins for first G-MAC win of season

Elkins, WV - Central State led from the beginning to the final whistle in Saturday's 82-60 road win over Davis & Elkins.

Taking a 9 point lead into halftime, the Marauders used a 12-0 run in the second half and controlled the game from that point on. The team led by as many as 26 en route to their largest margin of victory this season.

It was the Marauders first conference victory of the season, evening their G-MAC record to 1-1. Sophomore guard Sterling Gilmore led the way for CSU with a season-high 20 points. Gilmore converted 4 of 6 attempts from beyond the arc and was 7 of 10 from the free throw line in 24 minutes of play. Back court teammate Masceo Harmon added 19 points and a game-high 6 assists and 5 steals. Tre' Edwards and Raheem Lemons added 10 points each. Lemons also snatched 9 rebounds, narrowly missing his 9th double-double performance.

CSU used their defense to spark their offense, scoring 30 points off of D&E turnovers.

Juwan Strothers led all Davis & Elkins players with 19 points but it was not enough for the balanced CSU scoring as the Senators fell to 5-9 overall with a 1-4 mark in conference play.

The 8-6 Marauders return home to face Trevecca Nazarene (6-8; 2-1) on Thursday at 7:30 pm.
