Georgetown shooting heats up in 87-79 win over Central State

Wilberforce, OH - The Georgetown College Tigers defeated the Central State Marauders, 87-79 on Sunday in the final game of the Ben Waterman Classic.

The outside shooting of Georgetown(Ky) guard Noah Cottrill and interior scoring from forward Deondre McWorter proved to be too much for Central State. The combination went for a combined 49 points in the victory.

The majority of Cottrill's game high 25 points came off his 7 for 9 shooting performance from behind the arc, including two makes in the final 2 minutes to help Georgetown close out the game. McWorter was extremely efficient, converting 10 of 13 field goal attempts while pulling down 10 rebounds. Gerard Coleman chipped in with 17 points on 8 for 16 shooting from the field.

Georgetown shooters were a combined 60% from the field.

The Marauders leaned on seniors Masceo Harmon and Raheem Lemons. Harmon led all CSU scorers with 22 points and finished with a game high 5 steals. Lemons, who battled with McWorter throughout the evening, recorded 21 points and 9 rebounds. Lemons night ended early when the forward picked up his 5th foul while attempting to block a McWorter dunk with 2 minutes remaining. The Tigers took advantage of Lemons departure, ending the game on a 8-2 run and improving to 11-2 overall.

"It was a tough call in a crucial moment of the game. It just didn't go our way," CSU head coach Joseph Price said. "I give Georgetown a ton of credit. They have a lot of talent on their roster. At times, we lost our focus on defense and Georgetown made us pay for it."

The 4-4 Marauders will look to bounce back from Sunday's loss when they host Lemoyne Owen College on Tuesday night at 8 pm.
