Corey Owens

Corey Owens, Ph.D., has over 15 years of experience in the field of Organizational Leadership and Management. He began his leadership journey in the U.S. Army in the Finance Corps and served in the Armed Forces for nine years at multiple locations. After completing his time with the U.S. Army, Owens transitioned into the civilian sector, working for the world’s largest veterans service organization — The American Legion. While at The American Legion, he served as the assistant director of Membership and Business Development director of the Marketing Division. More recently, Owens has served as a consultant with the federal government and a Fortune 100 company in the area of minority leadership development.

Owens earned two Master of Science degrees in Marketing and Communication and Business Psychology from Franklin University; ultimately, he earned his Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership/Organizational Development from Grand Canyon University.

Dr. Owens began his career at Central State University as an academic advisor and football coach in 2014. In 2015, he was invited to serve as the director of Residence Life. In addition to that position, Owens proudly served as an adjunct professor at the Smith College of Business from 2015-2018. Since 2018, Owens has held various faculty roles, such as lead faculty, clinical assistant professor, and lecturer. Additionally, he served as the program director for the Organizational Leadership and Learning Undergraduate Degree Program at the University of Louisville. He is a member of the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business, Management and Administration. Owens’ research interests include high-performance learning teams, team dynamics/organizational athletes, and minority leadership development.
