Head Coach Travis Lewis proudly welcomes Allen Drake to the Central State University men’s basketball program. A proud native of Toledo, Ohio, Drake brings a wealth of experience as both a decorated student-athlete and a versatile coach with a proven record of player development and leadership.
A graduate of Start High School, Drake made his mark as a two-sport athlete before continuing his journey at Urbana University, where he excelled on the hardwood at the NCAA Division II level. During his time at Urbana, he was a two-time All-Conference selection and set the school’s career field goal percentage record, highlighting his efficiency, toughness, and consistency as a competitor.
Drake earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and later completed a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University—reflecting a lifelong commitment to education, mentorship, and empowering student-athletes both on and off the court.
His coaching résumé includes impact at every level of the game. He began his collegiate coaching career at Urbana University and Owens Community College, where he quickly established himself as a strong communicator and motivator. Transitioning to the high school ranks, he continued to grow the game in Northwest Ohio, serving four years at St. Francis de Sales High School, followed by a successful four-year run as Head Coach at Northwood High School. Most recently, he led Cardinal Stritch High School, helping shape a competitive culture and mentor student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.
A coach with a deep understanding of what it takes to build winning habits and strong character, Drake brings discipline, energy, and a teacher’s mindset to the Marauder staff. Off the court, he is the proud father of his spirited 5-year-old daughter, Chloe, whose curiosity and joy fuel his commitment to coaching with purpose, integrity, and love for the game.
With a heart for people and a passion for progress, Allen Drake is poised to be an invaluable asset in the continued rise of Central State Basketball.
