James Rollins

James Rollins has served as Head Coach for the CSU cross country and track & field program since 2013.

Rollins is originally from Toledo, Ohio and attended Libbey High School, where he was a standout track & field participant. In 1993, Rollins attended Central State University, where he was part of two NAIA National Championship teams. Twice, he participated in the USATF Indoor National Championship and was a provisional qualifier for the USATF Outdoor National Championships.

Competing in the hurdles for CSU from 1992 to 1995, Rollins' list of individual accomplishments include:

• 1992 55 Meter Hurdles Indoor All-American 
• 1992 110 Meter Hurdles Outdoor National Champion
• 1993 110 Meter Hurdles Outdoor All-American
• 1994 55 Meter Hurdles Indoor National Champion
• 1994 110 Meter Hurdles Outdoor National Runner-Up
• 1995 60 Meter Hurdles Indoor National Champion
• 1995 110 Meter Hurdles Outdoor National Champion


After earning a BA in Elementary Education from Central, Rollins taught in Columbus, Ohio for 15 years while directing a summer track program for youths ranging from 6 to 18 years of age. Prior his appointment as CSU’s Head Coach, Rollins was the Assistant Coach at Capital University.


In 2017, Rollins was inducted into the CSU Hall of Fame.


Rollins has over 15 years coaching experience with youth and collegiate athletes.Â
