Box Score Lady Marauders Fall to Miles, Turn Focus to Tuskegee Showdown
WILBERFORCE, Ohio — Central State Women's Basketball dropped an SIAC matchup on Saturday afternoon, falling 80–49 to Miles College inside Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium. The loss moves the Lady Marauders to 2–10 overall and 1–8 in SIAC play, while Miles improved to 10–3 (8–1 SIAC).
Miles set the tone early, opening the game with a strong first quarter and taking a 24–10 advantage after one. The Golden Bears maintained control throughout the contest, extending the lead at halftime and continuing to apply pressure on both ends of the floor.
Central State was led offensively by DeZarae' Stewart, who finished with a team-high 17 points, adding four rebounds, four assists, and a block. Ma'Kayla Williams followed with 13 points, while Calyanna Cage chipped in nine points. The Lady Marauders showed resilience late, winning the fourth quarter 14–11, but were unable to overcome the early deficit.
Miles capitalized on second-chance opportunities and bench production, scoring 25 second-chance points and receiving 47 points from their reserves. Central State battled on the glass and pushed the tempo in transition, but turnovers and shooting struggles proved difficult to overcome against one of the SIAC's top teams.
Despite the setback, the Lady Marauders will have little time to dwell on the result as conference play continues.
