Marauders Show Solid Effort at Mike Baumer XC Classic

Dayton, OH – September 5, 2025 — Central State Cross Country turned in a gritty performance at Wright State's Mike Baumer XC Classic, continuing to build momentum early in the 2025 season. With both the men's and women's squads battling on the fast the Fairborn Community Park course, the Marauders showed determination as they work to get healthy and strong for the stretch ahead.

Men's 5K Recap

The Marauder men were led by senior Andrew Drumwright, who crossed the line in 17:03.2 (72nd overall), setting the tone with a steady front-runner effort. Close behind was junior Alex Payne at 17:13.5 (73rd), followed by Andrew's twin brother Aaron Drumwright in 17:47.9 (79th).

• Rayhan Mohammed (18:15.0, 82nd) and Qimarreon Marks (18:56.6, 85th) rounded out the Marauders' top five.

• Kyron Odon (19:04.0), Ivory Payne (19:15.8), and Tyler Jackson (20:23.0) added depth in their season debuts.

The men's pack stayed close through the opening mile and will look to tighten their spread moving forward to climb up the standings.

Women's 5K Recap

On the women's side, junior Jasmine Williams continued to pace the Marauders, finishing in 23:37.0. She was followed closely by sophomore Kaitlynn Jones in 23:53.5,.

Freshman Aiyana Da'Silva posted a 24:49.5 in her collegiate debut, while sophomore Chanyah Taylor closed out the team scoring with a 26:36.6.  The Marauder's women's team is battling injuries and are focused on getting healthy.  

Building for the Season Ahead

While the team results reflected the competitive depth of the field, Central State's focus remains on steady improvement and getting stronger with each meet. Head coach and staff emphasized the importance of sharpening fitness and closing gaps between runners as the season progresses.

With solid showings from both veteran leaders and underclassmen gaining valuable experience, the Marauders are confident about the road ahead in the SIAC cross country season.
