Central State University Men's Track and Field Team Earns 2nd Place at the Cedarville Indoor Invitational
The Central State University Men's Track and Field team delivered a strong performance at the Cedarville Invitational, finishing in second place overall.
The day began with the shot put event, where sophomore Nathaniel McHardy represented Central State. McHardy posted a solid throw of 14.55 meters, securing a 3rd place finish. His performance contributed valuable points to the team's standing early in the competition.
In the men's long jump, sophomore Antonio Russell recorded a jump of 6.31 meters, earning a 3rd place finish.Â
The 400-meter race was a highlight for Central State, with senior James Lacking dominating the event. Lacking crossed the finish line with a time of 51.15 seconds, claiming the top spot . His performance was followed by freshman Qimarreon Marks, who clocked in at 51.30 seconds, earning a 2nd place finish. Freshman Glenwin Thompson also performed well, securing 3rd place with a time of 51.70 seconds, contributing additional points to the team total.
In the 200-meter race, sophomore Jae-Lijah Cochran finished in 2nd place with a time of 22.68 seconds. His strong performance continued to add to the team's success. Freshman Kam'Ron Dillard, also competing in the 200 meters, ran a personal best of 23.07 seconds, finishing in 4th place.
Cochran's sprinting prowess was further demonstrated in the 60-meter preliminaries, where he posted a time of 6.89 seconds, earning a spot in the finals. His performance not only solidified his position as one of the top sprinters in the region but also showed the depth of the team in short-distance races.
As the meet concluded, Central State's men's team finished in second place behind home representative Cedarville University. Despite the close competition, the team showed strong performances across multiple events, with several athletes contributing to the overall 2nd place finish.
The team left the event motivated, knowing that their performance was a step in the right direction in pursuit of SIAC honors. With several athletes showing promise and depth, Central State's men's track and field team is poised for future success as they prepare for upcoming meets.
