Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Marauders fall to ODU

A seasonal cold front swept over Greene County Ohio the past two days delivering weather conditions in the low 30's with heavy chances of precipitation. A midst being in the closed and confined quarters of historic Beacon Lewis Gymnasium the Lady Marauders still were affected by this cold spell. During tonight's contest between in state opponent Ohio Dominican University the Lady Marauders shot 10% from the field and 16% from behind the arc in the first half. While the opponent could not match the Lady Marauders athleticism team zone defense crowded the paint stifling Zhieyah Rolack and Jacquel Bronaugh's electric post play. With second chance shots limited along with glacial shooting the Lady Marauders went into half with just 16 points and down by 16 as well.

Head Coach Annitra Cole, the pragmatic Prince George County native settled the Lady Marauders down at half time focusing her team on ball movement, help defense, and better shot opportunities. These adjustments on defense put the Lady Marauders in better positions offensively where they shot 39% from the field in the 4th quarter. Around the 8 minute mark of the 3rd quarter Zhieyah Rolack completed a majestic and one basket plus the free throw play cutting the opponents lead to 12 points. The Lady Marauders were able to get as close as 8 points down, but couldn't get any closer.  The leading scorers for the Lady Marauders were Nadya McCown(Atlanta, GA) with 17 points and Abigail Peterson( Springfield, OH) with 11 points. The Lady Marauders will be on the road for their next game against Clkark Atlanta University Saturday December 14 at 2 pm in Atlanta, Georgia.
