Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WVSU too Much for Lady Marauders

Central State Women's Basketball suffered their first loss of the season falling to West Virginia State 77-63 this afternoon inside historic Beacom / Lewis Gymnasium. Under new leadership The Lady Marauders started the 2024-25 campaign with two consecutive conference wins.

The Lady Marauders started the game in a shooting slump while trying to penetrate the labyrinth zone defense played by West Virginia State. On the inverse the opponent shot over 35% from behind the arch making 9 three-point shots in the first half. Following the vision of Head Coach Annitra Cole, the pragmatic Prince George County native inspired the team at half in which they came out and spread the floor breaking down the opponents half court trap and zone defense.

Freshman Forward Zhieyah "Zee" Rolak understood the assignment Coach Cole posed to the team at half and took the 3rd and 4th quarters by force.  The Dayton Ohio native finished the game with 30 points going 13-16 from the field and a perfect 3 of 3 from behind the arch. Senior guard Abbigail Peterson contributed 10 points going 6-6 from the charity stripe while grabbing 6 rebounds. Sophomore forward Samara Savoy also contributed with 6 rebounds for the game.
The Lady Marauders head to Cedarville, Ohio Tuesday November 26 to take on Cedarville University at 5 pm. Please follow maraudersports.com for all news and info on Central State University Women's Basketball.
