T&F SIAC Championship Recap: Central State women finish in sixth place while Marauder men come in seventh place



ATLANTA, Georgia - The Central State men's and women's track team concluded competition at the SIAC Track & Field Championships as the women finished in sixth place while the men's program came in seventh place.





TEAM POINT BREAKDOWN


The CSU women's sixth place result in the 14 team field included a combined point total of 69 points.  The Marauder men were seventh out of 12 programs with a point total of 35 points.

CSU WOMEN POINT EARNERS


CSU freshman Amarianna Lofton set a NCAA Div. II school record to win the high jump with a national preliminary mark of 1.70m/5'7." Lofton also finished second in the long jump (5.54m/18'2.25") to earn a total of 18 points for the Lady Marauders over the weekend.

Tylar Lightbourn became the first CSU woman to win the SIAC individual title in the javelin (36.68m/120'4"). Darcey Dorris earned four points for the team in the shot putt with a fifth place finish (11.56m/11.25") and two points in the discus with a seventh place mark (35.01m/114'10'). Mariah Huston came in sixth the 3000m steeplechase (14:13.12) and eighth in the 5000 meter run (23:49.22). Skye Livingston recorded a fourth place finish in the 100 meter dash (12.58). Kapri Dawkins finished seventh in the 400 meter race (58.69). CSU earned 10 points in the 400 meter hurdles as Kaylah Huston finished in third place (1:05.07) followed by Jonnyse Pitts' fifth place time (1:09.42). 

The women's 4 x 100 meter relay team consisting of Kapri Dawkins, Tylar Lightbourn, Michael Addison, Skye Livingston came in second place with a pace of 47.26. The women's 4 x 400 meter relay team of Jaylin Bradshaw, Kapri Dawkins, Michael Addison, Jurnie Hemsley finished in third place (3:55.46).




CSU MEN POINT EARNERS

CSU's 4 x 100 meter relay team of Demari Johnson, Juwan Rigby, James Lacking, Jeremiah Cadet finished in second place with a time of 41.34. Juwan Rigby, Demari Johnson, James Lacking, QiAden Marks teamed up for a fifth place finish in the 4 x 400 meter relay (3:19.19).

Andre Calvert set a CSU NCAA Div. II record in the discus with a throw of 41.24m/135'.4" to finish in fourth place. Aden Fisher became the first CSU athlete to win the SIAC pole vault competition with a mark of 3.80m/12'5.50." Sukaraj Sandhu contributed with a seventh place finish in the 10000m run (42:13.18). Demari Johnson had a sixth place run of 22.14 in the 200 meter race. Qaiden Marks finished seventh in the 800 meter run (1:58.64). Andrew Drumright finished eighth in the 1500 meter run (4:19.37). 




WHAT'S NEXT

Members of the CSU track and field team will participate in the West Virginia University Last Chance Meet on Saturday, May 6.
