T&F Weekend Recap: Central State women take top spot at Berea Mountaineer Open;  CSU women and men combine to win in eight events
 

BEREA, Kentucky – The Central State University women's track and field team recorded its first win of the 2023 outdoor season at the Berea College Mountaineer Open on Saturday.
 

The CSU women accumulated 149 points in the eight team field while the Marauder men came in fourth place out of a 12 team field with 82 points.
 

CSU athletes combined to win eight events over the weekend.
 

In the women's competition, CSU freshman Amarianna Lofton picked up a pair of wins while competing in the 100 meter hurdles and high jump. Lofton's time of 14.05 in the 100 meter hurdles which currently ranks as the sixth fastest time in NCAA Div. II this season. Lofton also won the high jump with a leap of 1.66m (5' 5.25").


Darcey Dorris won the shot put and the discus, throwing for marks of 11.67m (38' 3.5") and 37.50m (123' 0").



Jaylin Bradshaw won the 400 meter race with a pace of 1:01.97 with teammate Kapri Dawkins finishing in second place (1:02.35). Mariyah Fields was victorious in the long jump with a mark of 4.73m (15' 6.25"). Flo Omodayo recorded a mark of 10.37m (34' 0.25") to take the top spot in the triple jump.



The CSU men's efforts were highlighted by a win in the 4 x 100 meter relays by the team of Demari Johnson, Juwan Rigby, James Lacking and Jeremiah Cadet with a time of 42.55.
 

 
Central State returns to competition on Friday at the Western Kentucky University Hilltopper Relays.
