Central State's season comes to an end with loss to Tuskegee in SIAC Quarterfinals

Top-seeded Tuskegee ends Central State's season in conference quarterfinal

 
SAVANNAH, Georgia – The Central State Lady Marauders lost to top-seeded Tuskegee in the SIAC quarterfinals, 73-50, on Wednesday.

 
With the loss, CSU ends their season with a 12-15 overall record while TU improves to 24-3 and will play in Friday's conference semifinal.

 
First half turnovers proved too much for the fifth seeded Lady Marauders to overcome. CSU gave the ball away 20 times in the first 20 minutes of play and trailed 45-17 at half. CSU ended the game with 26 resulting in a 33-7 TU edge in points scored off giveaways.

 
TU attempted 26 more shots than CSU and finished the game shooting 32 of 79 from the field (40.5%). CSU was 16 of 53 for the game (30.2%).

 
JuToreyia Willis led TU scorers with 27 points. Sumaiyah Abdur-Rahim finished with 12 points and six assists.

 
The CSU scoring was paced by 12 points from Naomi Shorts. Kailyn Nash nearly finished with a triple-double with numbers of 10 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks.

Kailyn Nash, a SIAC First Team selection, finishes the season with 16.2 ppg, 8.4 rpg, and 2.6 bpg. The sophomore from Muskegon, Michigan recorded a NCAA Div. II school record 75 blocks this season.

 
With eight blocks, Nash recorded her 20th game of 2 or more blocks this season.

 
Laurene Tere, a senior from Cleveland, Ohio, made her last shot she took in a CSU uniform in the final minute of Wednesday's game. Tere finished with eight points and six rebounds.

 
This year's SIAC Tournament games are hosted by Savannah State University.
