T&F Weekend Recap: Marauder men take second place; women finish fifth at Ohio University Cherry Blossom Invit
ATHENS, Ohio - Competing in the final event before this month's SIAC Championships, the Central State men's track & field team finished in second place while the CSU women came in fifth place at the Ohio University Cherry Blossom Invitational on Saturday.
The CSU men combined for a total score of 105 points in a field that included NCAA Div. I programs Miami (OH) (226 pts), Ohio State (53 pts), Wright State (26 pts), Dayton (18 pts), and Northern Kentucky (18 pts) along with NAIA institution Shawnee State (12 pts).
The CSU men's 4 x 100 relay team comprised of James McKinney,
Juwan Rigby, James Lacking and
Demari Johnson took first place with a time of 45.06. The Marauders earned valuable points in the 100 meter dash as McKinney took second place (11.31).Â
Isreal Williamson finished in third (11.52). Lacking came in fourth (11.56) and
Cornelius Steward finished in tenth (12.97).
Four CSU runners earned points in the 200 meter race. Johnson finished third in the 200m (23.13). Williamson finished in fourth (23.14). McKinney came in sixth (24.09) and Steward finished in seventh place (24.99).

Coming in fifth place with a team score of 47.5, the CSU women finished near the middle of the pack in the nine team field.
Kapri Dawkins finished in third place in the 100 meter race with a pace of 12.76.
Kaylah Huston finished third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.02) and Michael Addison came in fifth place in the event (1:10.15).
