Central State records 12 individual winners at Wabash College Indoor Meet


 
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana – Central State student-athletes combined to win 12 events during Friday's Horace Turner Open at Wabash College.

 
The CSU men had seven first place finishers while the women had five take the top spot.

 
CSU freshman jumper Reaghan Wakefield highlighted the day for the Lady Marauders by setting a NCAA preliminary qualifying mark in the high jump with a first place mark of 1.68m (5' 6").

 
Kayla Huston finished first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.68. CSU took the top-five spots in the 400 meter race with Kapri Dawkins crossing the line first in 1:02.02. Tyler Lightbourn proved to be the top sprinter in the 60 meter dash finishing with a time of 8.07.

 
The CSU women's 4 x 400 meter relay team also won as Dawkins, Huston, Jaylin Bradshaw, and Renee Bruce with a time of 4:19.73.

 
On the men's side, CSU took first place in seven events.

 
David Barfield won over a heard of Marauders in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.01. Isreal Williamson won the 200 meter dash in 23.40. Williamson was edged for first place in the 400 meter race by teammate Tramari Smith's time of 51.16. Jaheim Wilson won the 60 meter hurdles with a pace of 8.35. Justin Fudge won the long jump with a leep of 6.42 meters (21' ¼). Tyler Nelson had the top mark in the triple jump with 12.77m (41' 10 ¼ ").


 
The men's team of Barfield, Juwan Rigby, James Lacking and Demari Johnson won the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:31.52.
 

 
 "We showed progress from our first meet last week and did a better job of executing. Reaghan (Wakefield) had an excellent performance in the high jump and we had quite a few of our freshman record wins in their events," CSU head coach Elliott Lightfoot said. "We have a month to prepare for our next meet and remained focused on the process of getting better."
 
 
 
 
CSU will return to action on January 15^th at the Armory Track Invitational in New York, New York.
