Gilbert reaches milestone in CSU's 57-45 win over Bluefield State

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – CSU senior guard Takyra Gilbert scored her 1000th point in a Central State uniform as the Lady Marauders beat Bluefield State, 57-45, on Friday night.

With the win, the Lady Marauders finish the regular season 13-15 overall heading into next week's SIAC Tournament. BSU falls to 14-11 overall.
Entering the game needing nine points to reach her milestone, Gilbert poured in 17 in the first half to hit the career mark as CSU took a 33-24 lead at halftime.
In a relatively low scoring second half, CSU held the BSU shooters to 23.1% from the field in the third quarter and 16.7% in the fourth. With a comfortable lead, CSU head coach LaTonya McDole subbed out her seniors to a standing ovation from the CSU fans as her team went on to win by 12.
Gilbert led all players with 21 points and five assists. Sandra Guilford chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.
BSU was led bu Dani Janutolo's 12 points and seven rebounds.

CSU will open the SIAC Tournament as a No. 2 seed against No. 7 seed Kentucky State on Monday at 8 pm.
