Box Score Lady Marauders beat LeMoyne-Owen for third straight win

 
MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Central State Lady Marauders beat LeMoyne-Owen, 61-54, on Saturday night.
 
 
With their third straight game, the Lady Marauders improve to 7-10 overall with a 5-4 ledger in the SIAC. LOC falls to 6-10 on the year with a 4-4 mark in the conference.



Playing to an 11-11 tie at the end of the first quarter, CSU's Shania Kelly scored nine of her teams 16 points in the second period to give the Lady Marauders a 27-23 edge at the half.
 
 
LOC opened the second half on a 9-4 run to take a 32-31 lead by the 6:04 mark of the third quarter. The teams traded baskets in the final five minutes of the period with CSU clinging to a 39-38 lead.
 
 
CSU seized momentum in the fourth with a 14-5 run capped off by a Takyra Gilbert fastbreak bucket to put her team up 53-43 with 2:04 remaining.  CSU added eight made free throws down the stretch to remain in control on their way to the seven point victory.
 
 
CSU outrebounded LOC, 58 to 34, and held a 21-9 edge in second chance points.
 
 
Kelly finished with a season-high 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Sandra Guilford grabbed 13 rebounds and added seven points. Laurene Tere recorded 10 rebounds and chipped in eight points.
 
 
LOC was led by Gabbie Morgan's 22 points.
 

CSU will travel to play Miles on Monday night.

Saturday was the first time CSU has had two players with double-figure rebounding numbers in the same game this season.
