Central State begins indoor track & field season this Friday

The Central State University men's and women's track & field teams open the 2019-20 indoor season at nearby Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio this Friday. The meet will begin at 4 p.m. with field events followed by the track events at 5:30 pm.

WOMEN'S OUTLOOK
Three USTFCCCA Indoor All-Region selections
Krystal Mitchell,
Akaila Howard and
Ayanna O'Neal return to the team this season.
A senior from Nassau, Bahamas, Mitchell is poised to qualify for nationals. Running in the 60 meter and 200 meter events, Mitchell earned all-region honors with season-best time of 7.67 in the 60m and 25.39 in the 200m. Mitchell is also a key member of CSU's relay teams.
Howard, a senior from Huber Heights, Ohio,  shined in the triple jump last season. Her season-best mark was 10.46 meters. Howard also competed in the long jump, javelin throw, 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash last season. In addition, she is a member of CSU's volleyball team.
In her first season competing at CSU, O'Neal earned all-region honors with a time of 8.13 in the 60 meter hurdles. O'Neal also competes in the 60 meter dash and the relays.
CSU's indoor women's track and field team consists of nine returners and five newcomers.
MEN'S OUTLOOK
NCAA Div. II Indoor All-American
Juan Scott leads a strong class of returning student-athletes for the Marauder men's track and field program.Â
A senior from Dayton, Ohio, Scott finished the 2018-2019 indoor season with three victories in the 60 meter hurdles while earning USTFCCCA All-American honors and South Region Athlete of the Year honors. Scott is the only Marauder to compete in the NCAA Div. II Indoor Championships in three consecutive seasons. Scott won the national title in 2018 and recorded a 12
th place finish in 2017.
Scott is also part of a strong 4 x 400 relay team along withÂ

Baron Wilson andÂ
Isreal Williamson. CSU's 4 x 400 relay team was selected to USTFCCCA's All-Region Team last season.
Led by senior runner
Emmanuel Birgen along with Alexander, Williamson and newcomer
Weslee Prater, CSU's distance medley team is also expected to duplicate all-region honors from a year ago.
The CSU men's indoor team is comprised of 10 returners and six newcomers to the program.
