Lady Marauders face Claflin in SIAC semifinals on Friday 

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - The Central State Lady Marauders will play the Tigers of Benedict College for the SIAC championship on Saturday afternoon.

The matchup features the two top-seeded teams as the Lady Marauders claimed the SIAC West Division and the Tigers were champions of the East Division. 

The Lady Marauders made their way to the championship games with wins over LeMoyne-Owen College and Claflin University. CSU is 20-7 overall and winners of their last five contests dating back to the regular season. CSU appears in the SIAC championship for the first time in school history.

After escaping a potential upset with a 66-61 overtime win over Albany State University in the semifinals, Benedict dominated its semifinal contest against Fort Valley State University, 86-64. Ranked No. 5 in the South Region Poll with a 20-7 record, BC appears in the SIAC championship game for the fifth consecutive year. The Tigers hoisted the SIAC trophy a year ago with a 74-52 win over Kentucky State.

The teams will play for the title beginning at 4 pm cst (5 pm est). The winner will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Div. II National Tournament.

All tournament games are held in the Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
