Box Score Lady Marauders unable to keep up with Lane College
JACKSON, Tennessee - The Central State University Lady Marauders lost on the road, 88-71, to the Dragons of Lane College in conference play on Wednesday night.
The loss snapped a CSU winning streak that had lasted twelve games. LC led for the majority of the game and took a seven point lead into the 4th quarter. While CSU remained in striking distance, Lane had its best offensive quarter of the season, scoring 34 points in the final ten minutes of play on their way to the 17-point win.
21 turnovers hindered CSU from generating any momentum offensively. While CSU struggled to hang on to the ball, Lane shooters combined to hit nearly 60% of their field goal attempts on the night. Lane went to the free throw line 36 times, making 29 attempts. CSU made just 19 trips to the free throw line, converting 13 shots.
Keyana Johnson and Addie McNealy combined for over half of the Dragons points. Johnson finished with 28 points and 4 rebounds. McNealy had 27 points and 6 rebounds as the Dragons improved to 8-14 overall and 7-6 in the SIAC.
The Lady Marauders were led by 16 points from
Ghameerah McCullers.
Sierra Harley finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The loss drops CSU to an overall ledger of 15-6 with a 10-3 mark in conference play.
Notes:
- Despite the loss, the Lady Marauders remain in 1st place in the SIAC West Division with a 10-3 mark. Entering Wednesday night's contests, Spring Hill was in second place with a 7-5 record in conference play followed by Lane at 6-6.Â
- CSU has three conference games remaining (Kentucky State, Spring Hill, LeMoyne-Owen)
- Wednesday's loss snapped a CSU winning streak that was the longest since 2005.
- With Wednesday's results, CSU and LC have split the regular season series with both teams winning at home.
