Box Score McCullers leads Lady Marauders to twelfth straight win
MEMPHIS, Tennessee –
Ghameerah McCullers proved to be the best player on the floor on Monday night, leading the Central State Lady Marauders to a 77-71 conference win over LeMoyne-Owen.
McCullers scored the first nine points for CSU as the Lady Marauders seized an early 9-6 lead midway through the 1
st quarter. CSU increased their lead to 14-9 at the 4:35 mark but the LOC shooters found their mark, closing the half on a 14-4 run to take a 23-18 after the first ten minutes of play.
McCullers scored eight quick points to spark a 10-0 run to put CSU up 28-23 at the 8:08 mark of the 2
nd period. CSU gradually built on their lead and went up by as many as fourteen when McCullers converted two free throws to give her team a 44-30 lead with 3:44 remaining in the half. LOC's Tenesha Wright was the only player to score from either team in the final minutes of the quarter as CSU took a 44-32 lead at intermission.
CSU maintained a healthy lead throughout the 3
rd quarter and a
Zana Godoy three-pointer gave the Lady Marauders a 61-44 lead entering the final frame.
The Lady Marauders stayed in control with a double-digit lead for the majority of the 4
th quarter. A Corlisha Howard three point make cut the CSU lead down to 71-63 with 1:34 to play but
Tamara Sellers answered back with a three of her own to put her team back up by eleven. Mays and Howard scored the next five points of the game to bring the Magicians within six points but CSU would add three free throws to help ensure the victory.
Led by McCullers' ability to drive the lane, CSU outscored LOC in the paint, 34-18. CSU also outscored LOC, 28-8, in points off of turnovers.
McCullers led all scorers with a career high 36 points. She also grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out 4 assists and recorded 5 steals. With the win, CSU extended its winning streak to twelve straight games while improving to 15-5 overall with a SIAC record of 10-2.
Mays led the Magicians with 26 points. The loss dropped LOC to 5-20 on the years and 4-8 in the SIAC.

- McCullers' 36-point performance is the most points scored by any Lady Marauders since February of 2014 (Demetria Nunley-Lash).

- Improving to 10-2 in SIAC competition, CSU is currently in 1st place in the SIAC West Division standings. Spring Hill is in second place with a 7-5 mark in conference play.
