Box Score Lady Marauders handle Wilberforce, 76-54

WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The Central State Lady Marauders were victorious, 76-54, in Tuesday night's historic rivalry game against Wilberforce University.

After a slow start, CSU settled into its offense to take a 15-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. CSU did most of its 2nd quarter scoring from three-point range, converting 5 of 7 shots from beyond the arc. The Lady Marauders outscored the Bulldogs, 28-14, in the 2nd frame to take a 43-25 lead at halftime.

CSU maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half. WU cut the lead down, 49-34, after a Brooklynn Peterson three-pointer, but the Lady Marauders responded with a 8-0 run to increase their lead to 57-34 with 4:03 to play. CSU continued to dictate the pace of play and cruised to the eventual 24-point victory.

Sierra Harley and Ghameerah McCullers led CSU scorers with 15 points each. Harley tacked on 8 assists and 6 rebounds. McCullers added 6 assists and 3 steals. After missing Saturday's game at KSU, Rahni Bell returned to the lineup on Tuesday to provide 12 points.

The win moves the Lady Marauders to 16-7 overall.

WU was led by Peterson's game-high 31 points. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 5-16 on the season.

Notes:
  • CSU remains in first place in the SIAC West Division with a 10-4 mark.
     
  • Saturday's game against Spring Hill will have heavy implications on CSU's chances of clinching the SIAC West title
     
  • President Cynthia Jackson-Hammond, Vice President of Athletic Jahan Culbreath and CSU Hall of Fame Coach Theresa Check presented CSU Head Women's Basketball Coach Sheba Harris with the game ball from her 100th career coaching victory in a ceremony in between the women's and men's games on Tuesday night.
     
  • Tuesday night's game is the first of a three game home stand to end the regular season
