Box Score Kentucky State uses first half offense to run away from Lady Marauders
FRANKFORT, Kentucky - The Thorobrettes of Kentucky State beat the Central State Lady Marauders, 80-68, in SIACÂ playing on Saturday.
Entering the game with a chance to clinch the SIAC West, CSU came out flat and trailed by 14 at the end of the first quarter. KSU's lead ballooned to 40-17 after Brittani Rizzi made a three-pointer at the 7:29 mark. KSU went on to take a comfortable 48-29 lead at intermission.
The Lady Marauders made a dent in the Thorobrettes lead as Hilary Dietahin scored in the paint to bring CSU within 16 entering the 4th quarter. CSU never was able to mount a serious threat to KSU. A
Tamara Sellers make from beyond the arc cut the KSU lead down to 70-59 with 3:07 to go but KSU went on a quick 8-2 run to take a 78-61 lead with 2:25 to play. From that point on, KSU was able to cruise to the 12-point win.
Nashaye Sutton led KSU with a perfect shooting night, going 8-8 from the field, 6-6 from three-point range and 3-3 from the free throw line. Sutton finished with 25 points to lead all scorers to go along with 3 rebounds as KSU improved to 9-12 on the year with a 6-7 mark in conference play.
Sellers led CSU's efforts with 14 points. The loss dropped CSU to 15-7 overall and 10-4 in the SIAC.Â

- With Saturday night's results, CSU and KSU have split the regular season series with each team winning at home

- CSU remains in 1st place in the SIACÂ West Division with a 10-4 mark. Entering the night, Spring Hill was in 2nd place with a 7-5 mark.
