Box Score The Lady Marauders beat Tuskegee at the buzzer for eighth straight win

WILBERFORCE, Ohio - The Central State Lady Marauders beat Tuskegee University thanks to a last second shot from senior Rahni Bell to clinch a 62-60 win on Monday night.

Bell opened the game with a make from beyond the arc and the Lady Marauders outscored the Tigers in the first quarter, 16-12. Neither team gained separation from each other in the second period as CSU maintained a four point advantage, 33-29, at intermission.

Bell gave CSU a 7-point lead with another three pointer to start the third but Tuskegee responded with a 9-2 run to tie the game, 39-39, at the 5:59 mark. Falon Edwards pushed her team back ahead with a rare three-point make and an acrobatic finish in the paint to get the Lady Marauders back up by four, 47-43, entering the fourth quarter.
The Lady Marauders upped their lead to ten with an 8-2 run capped off by another Bell three point make with 6:40 to play. Tuskegee refused to go away and mounted a 7-0 run to cut the lead down to three with 2:53 left. After a pair of CSU free throws made the score 60-55 at the 1:45 mark, the Tigers scored five quick points to tie the game up, 60-60. With 16 seconds left, CSU Head Coach Sheba Harris called Bell's number again. Bell proved to up to the task, receiving a pass in the corner, driving the baseline and throwing up high arcing midrange shot that bounced off the rim and in as time expired.

"We brought Rahni in for moments like tonight and she did not disappoint," Harris said. "She stepped up and made the play when it counted the most."

Bell finished with a game-high 18 points. Edwards finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds as the Lady Marauders improved to 11-5 on the season and 6-2 in the SIAC.
A key factor to the game was the Lady Marauders nine three point field goals compared to just one three ball from the Tigers. CSU also outscored TU, 28-11, in points off of turnovers.

Taylor Miller led Tuskegee with 13 points. No other TU player managed to score in double-figures as the Tigers fell to 5-11 overall and 1-6 in SIAC play.

The Lady Marauders take their eight game winning streak into Saturday's rivalry game against Kentucky State University. The game is scheduled to start at 6 pm in Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium
