Box Score Lady Marauders win sixth straight with 89-33 victory over Salem International
SALEM, West Virginia - A balanced Central State offense powered the Lady Marauders to their sixth straight victory with a 89-33 win over Salem International on Thursday night.
CSU held Salem International to just 3 points in the opening 10 minutes and took a 14-3 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The offense began asserting its dominance in the second period by scoring 13 points off of SIU turnovers and pouring in 25 total points to take a 39-12 lead at the intermission.
The Lady Marauders played even better in the third quarter, scoring 27 points.
Tamara Sellers hit a jumper with 39 seconds left in the period to give CSU a 50-point lead. Entering the final period in full control of the game, CSU Head Coach Sheba Harris played the majority of the fourth quarter with her reserves. Forward Hillary Dietahin took full advantage of her opportunity to play, scoring 11 points in the final 10 minutes as her team cruised to a 56-point victory.Â
The win marked the largest margin of victory for Central State this season. The 89-point output is the most points scored CSU has scored all season.
The Lady Marauders were dominant in nearly every aspect of the game. CSU outscored SIU in the paint, 58-10. The Lady Marauder reserves outscored the Tiger bench, 48-10. CSU was also efficient from the field, converting 50% compared to a 25% performance from SIU.
Every CSU player scored in the victory. Dietahin end up as CSU's leading scorer with 13 points. JasminDancy recorded 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Tamara Sellers chipped in with 11 points and Mustafa Notter finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. With the win, the Lady Marauders improve to 9-5 overall.
Salem International's Jiahna Flood-Francis led all scorers with 14 points. The loss drops the Tigers to 2-17 on the season.
Central State resumes conference play on Saturday when they host Miles College at 1 pm.
