2460Central State basketball teams set to play in SIAC Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - The Central State men's and women's basketball teams are set to compete in upcoming Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (S-I-A-C) Tournament beginning on Tuesday, March 1 in Birmingham, AL.

This year will mark the first time Central State has participated in the SIAC Tournament as both basketball programs joined the conference last summer.

The Lady Marauders earned the No. 3 seed in the SIAC West Division after a 13-13 overall record and a 6-10 mark in conference play. CSU will take on No. 6 seed Clark-Atlanta. CAU finished the regular season with a lackluster 6-20 ledger and a 4-12 record in the SIAC East Division. Despite a losing record, CAU was victorious, 80-58, in the only meeting with CSU this season.

The women are scheduled for a 2:30 pm (cst) tip on Tuesday afternoon.

The CSU men's program will make their SIAC Tournament debut as the No. 7 seed after a 11-14 regular season record, going 9-9 in the SIAC West Division. The Marauders will face No. 2 seed Morehouse. MC enters the tournament after a 14-9 finish to the regular season with a 10-8 mark in SIAC East Division play. The Marauders edged Morehouse, 88-81, in overtime back in January..

CSU and Morehouse will conclude the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday night at 9:15 pm (cst).

All tournament games will be held in Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Fans will be able to watch live video of Central State's tournament runs on the Marauder Sports Streaming Channel.
