Box Score Lady Marauders beat Paine College for first SIAC win of the season
AUGUSTA, Georgia - The Central State Lady Marauders earned their first conference victory of the season with a 83-66 road win over Paine College on Saturday night.
Playing in their fifth straight road game, the Lady Marauders scored a season-high 83 points thanks to a balanced scoring attack. All nine CSU players who saw action on the floor scored. Sophomore
Tamara Sellers had an efficient night from the field, converting 7 of 11 field goal attempts to lead her team with 17 points. Senior
Rahni Bell scored 15 points.
Destinee Russell spent the night shutting down Paine's best perimeter players while chipping in offensively with 10 points.
As a team, the Lady Marauders shot 53% from the field compared to a 40% performance from Paine.
Paine's Janisha Wilkerson led all scorers with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Aalyiha Wright was the only other Lady Lion to score in double-figures with 10 points. The loss dropped Paine's record to 4-3 overall with a 1-1 mark in the SIAC.
With Saturday's win, Central State snapped a 3-game losing streak while improving to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the SIAC.Â
Central State will return to action at next week's Joe Manchin Classic in Salem, West Virginia. The Lady Marauders play Virginia State University on Friday and Bluefield State College on Saturday.
