WILBERFORCE, Ohio – Coming off a dominant 66-31 win over Salem International on Saturday, the Central State Lady Marauders let one slip away in a 56-46 loss to Ohio Valley on Sunday.

Playing in the final game of the Theresa A. Check Tip-Off Classic, the Lady Marauders were in position to start the season with a 2-0 record. After the first three quarters of play, Central State appeared in control with a 41-31 lead over the Fighting Scots. Unfortunately for CSU, the rims of Beacom/Lewis Gymnasium seemed to shrink in the fourth quarter as CSU shooters converted just 1 shot through the final 10 minutes. While the CSU offense went cold, Ohio Valley shooters combined to hit 45% of their shot attempts to outscore CSU, 25-5, to take the contest 56-46.

Ohio Valley was able to overcome 28 turnovers thanks to their effectiveness on the glass. OVU held a 49-38 edge in rebounding which resulted in a 22-14 advantage in second chance points.

OVU's Cydney Franklin led all scorers with 16 points. Ariel Johnson had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds as OVU improved to 1-1 overall.
Sierra Harley was the only CSU player in double-figures with 11 points. No other player scored more than 8 for CSU.

The Lady Marauders will return to action on Friday when they travel to play Bluefield State at 6 pm. The game will be hosted by Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Ky.
