Box Score Central State beats Tuskegee for third straight victory

TUSKEGEE, Alabama – The Lady Marauders of Central State University used a balanced scoring attack to beat Tuskegee University, 76-68, for the team's third straight victory on Saturday afternoon.

Playing in just her third game, Sierra Harley scored a quick six points in the opening 10 minutes as CSU took a 20-13 going into the second quarter. TU battled back to tie the game as a Rachel Brownlee tied the game, 22-22, at the 7:02 mark. Aryana Jackson gave TU its first lead, 24-22, seconds later. The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the first half as the Lady Tigers clung to a 32-30 lead at halftime.

CSU regained control in the early stages of the third quarter as baskets from Ghameerah McCullers and Harley sparked a 11-2 run and a 41-34 lead at the 7:11 mark. Central State closed the quarter on a 12-4 run to claim a 60-42 lead heading into the fourth.

TU managed to narrow the deficit to nine but Harley quickly answered with her fifth three pointer of the game to put CSU back up by 12 with 4:30 remaining. CSU remained in control and successfully closed out the game to improve to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in SIAC play.

As a team, CSU converted 38% on three point shooting compared to just a 13% performance for TU.

Harley finished with 15 points thanks to five makes from beyond the arc. McCullers came off the bench to score 13 points. Jordyn Bond filled the stat sheets with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Kourtni Perry chipped in with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Central State managed a victory despite an impressive 23 point performance from Brownlee and Jackson's 19 point effort. Tuskegee fell to 1-12 on the season and remain winless in the conference at 0-5.

The Lady Marauders conclude their three game Alabama road trip on Monday at Stillman College (5-8; 2-4).
