Davis & Elkins hands CSU third straight loss
Wilberforce, OH - The Central State Lady Marauders dropped their third straight contests after Thursday's 73-68 loss to Davis & Elkins
With this latest loss, CSU is now 6-14 on the season with a 3-7 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. D&E improved to 11-8 overall and 7-4 in conference play.

CSU held a brief lead after a Jasmine Cooper layup gave the team a 10-9 lead at the 15:19 mark of the first half. Just 16 seconds later, the Senators reclaimed the lead and hung on to it for the rest of the night. A good layup by Sharmaine Baker as the buzzer sounded at the end of the first gave D&E a 45-28 lead at the break.

CSU finally gained some momentum in the form of a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 60-56 with 5:12 left. CSU continued to chip away at the Senator lead as a Demetria Nunley-Lash layup with 1:00 left on the clock pulled CSU within two. That be as close as CSU would come as D&E hit clutch free throws in the final 60 seconds to take the victory.

The Senators were led by Ashley Bowles and Shermaine Baker, who each scored 21 points. Baker, the reigning conference Athlete of the Week, added 8 rebounds. The D&E bench also proved to be a big factor in the outcome, outscoring the CSU reserves 28-8.
Amanda Pierce paced Central State with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Central State hosts Alderson Broaddus (6-14; 4-7) on Saturday at 2 pm.
