CSU men's track & field finishes second at G-MAC Championships

Gambier, OH - The Central State men's track & field team finished 2nd at the Indoor G-MAC Championships on Saturday.

Four individuals from CSU won their event with a host of others claiming points for the team.

Romario McKenzie finished 1st in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7 seconds. Teammate Demetrius Wiliams placed 3rd in the event with a time of 7.15 seconds. Darin Gooch took the 200 meter and long jump. Gooch posted a time of 22.38 edging McKenzie in the 200 m by .11 seconds. He jumped 6.77 meters to claim his second win in long jump competition. Denzel Peters won the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.43 seconds.

McKenzie was named the G-MAC Co-Track & Field Indoor Athlete of the Year while Gooch was selected as the G-MAC Freshman of the Year following the event. Peters' 8.43 seconds in the hurdles set a conference record in the event. 

The 4x400 team of McKenzie, Gooch, Peters and Tyrez Shipmon placed 2nd to Cedarville with a time of 3.28.11 seconds. In the shot put, Jeff Colby surprised the field with a 2nd place finish after a toss of 13.13 meters.

The team gathered 98 points to finish second to Cedarville.
