Box Score Senators overpower CSU

Elkins, WV - The Senators of Davis & Elkins College jumped above .500 with a 87-70 win over Central State on Saturday.

Coming off Thursday road win at Alderson Broaddus, CSU opened the first 5 minutes of Saturday's contest up 13-9. That would be the highpoint for the Lady Marauders who surrendered a 9-0 run to the Senators. Davis & Elkins closed the first half on a 13-0 run to take control at half, 47-30.

After seeing the D&E lead balloon to 2 by the 11:30 mark of the 2nd half, CSU put together a 17-4 run to cut the D&E defeciti to 10 with 4:09 left. That would be as close as the Marauders would get as the Senators cruised to the 17 point victory.

Davis & Elkins outscored CSU in the paint, 48-32 and held a 40-23 edge in bench scoring.

With the loss, the Lady Marauders fell to 3-9 overall and are now 1-3 in the G-MAC. CSU guard Iniquia Snell continued her pursuit towards 1500 career points, scoring a team-high 19. The senior from Detroit, MI is 91 points away from the milestone. Jasmine Cooper tied a personal season high with 17 points.

Davis & Elkins (7-6; 3-2) were led by 26 points from Sharmaine Baker. Stephanie Wooten came off the bench to score 19 points.

CSU returns home on Thursday to face Trevecca Nazarene (6-8:3-1) at 5:30 pm.
