Box Score Turnovers plague Lady Marauders in 67-63 loss to Lemoyne-Owen

Wilberforce, OH - The Central State Lady Marauders suffered a 67-63 loss to the Lemoyne-Owen Lady Magicians on Tuesday night.

After getting out to an early 8-4 lead, the CSU offense managed just two points over a 7 minute span of the first half as Lemoyne-Owen led 18-10 by the 11 minute mark. The Lady Magicians pushed their lead to as many as 14 and took a 33-20 lead into the locker room.

By the 10:58 mark of the second half, the large Magician lead had vanished as CSU went on a 9-1 run to cut the deficit to 1. After a layup by Iniquia Snell, CSU took their first lead since the 16 minute mark of the first half. Jasmine Cooper put the Marauders up 50-47 on their next possession. The Marauders clung to the lead until the 4:49 mark when Lemoyne-Owen went on a 8-0 run, turning three CSU turnovers into points on the other end. CSU battled back to narrow the gap 66-63 with 44 seconds left but another turnover sealed the teams fate as CSU was forced to foul. With 28 seconds left, Lemoyne-Owen's Latrice Sears was sent to the line. After making the first, Sears missed the second but was able to track down her own rebound to seal the Magician victory.

Lemoyne-Owen center Darriel Johnson went 7 of 12 from the field to lead her team with 18 points. Maraja Johnson followed with 15 points.

Snell edged closer to her 1500th career point, leading the Marauder scoring with a game-high 19 while forward Amanda Pierce had 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Marauders were unable to overcome their 25 turnovers as Lemoyne Owen held of 31-13 edge in points scored off of miscuse.

Falling to 2-5, Central State will have nine days to prepare for a home game against Indiana University-East on Dec. 18.
